Following several reports in the past week of weight increasing of MSCI Emerging Market (EM), especially in MSCI Thailand Index, a source close to the matter who has requested not to be named has revealed to Kaohoon Online that the weight increase which will be effective at the end of May will result in about 2.4 billion dollars or 76 billion baht of fund inflows.
In the announcement from MSCI, there are an addition of four Thai listed companies that had been added to the MSCI Thailand Index which are Central Plaza Hotel Public Company Limited (CENTEL), Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company Limited (RATCH), Intouch Holdings Public Company Limited (INTUCH), and Total Access Communication Public Company Limited (DTAC).
The source has also revealed that the weight increase on these four additionals would result in fund inflows about THB 4-5 billion for INTUCH, THB 1.7-2.1 billion for RATCH, THB 1.3-1.7 billion for CENTEL, and THB 1.4-1.8 billion for DTAC.
Muangthai Capital Public Company Limited (MTC) which earlier was predicted by some analysts that the company would be removed from the index turned out to be able to remain with MSCI Thailand Index, but its fund inflows would decrease by approximately 29%.
The inclusion of the aforementioned four companies will be effective on May 29, 2019. It is very interesting to see if there will be speculation on these shares from now on, which could result in a positive factor to buoy the share price.
