NESDC Cuts Thai 2019 GDP to 2.7%-3.2% from Trade Tension and Economic Slow Down
NESDC has announced a cut on Thailand 2019 economic growth forecast to a range of 2.7% - 3.2% YoY from the previous forecast of 3.3% - 3.8% YoY.
On August 19, 2019, the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) has announced a cut on Thailand 2019 economic growth forecast to a range of 2.7% – 3.2% YoY from the previous forecast of 3.3% – 3.8% YoY.
Gross domestic product in the second quarter of 2019 was 2.3% from the forecast of 2.1%-2.5%, resulting in a 2.6% growth in the first half.
Thailand’s economy grew at the slowest pace since 2014 in the second quarter as exports and tourism deteriorated, pressured by the trade tension between the U.S. and China while a strong currency had caused exports to plunge.
