India's PM Modi Imposes a Country Lockdown for 21 Days after Covid-19 Cases Jump to 519


Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday has ordered a country lockdown for 21 days to quarantine the coronavirus spreading after infection cases jumped to 519 nationwide and 10 reported deaths.

The lockdown became effective since midnight local time and will be enforced for 21 days.

“There will be a total ban on venturing out of your homes,” Modi said in a televised address.

He added: “To save India, to save its every citizen, you, your family… every street, every neighbourhood is being put under lockdown.”

Singapore on Tuesday night has announced more lock down measures, bars, clubs, cinemas and other entertainment complex will be shut from Thursday until April 30. Singapore now recored 558 confirmed cases and 156 deaths.

According to a latest report, the total number of global infected surpassed 420,000 cases and at least 18,831 people have died from a coronavirus. Top six countries with the highest reported cases are China (81,218), Italy (69,176), U.S. (53,018), Spain (42,058), Germany (32,991), and Iran (24,811).

Italy on Tuesday addressed a sharp death toll again with an additional 743 deaths after two days earlier the death was steadily remained at about 600 cases per day. The total figures of death in Italy currently records at 6,820.
