Global Coronavirus Cases Hit 720,000, Italy Death Toll Falls for 2nd Day
According to latest data, the total number of coronavirus infection cases globally has passed more than 720,000 and at least 33,968 deaths. The U.S. becomes a new epicenter of covid-19 spreading after the confirmed cases surged 142,328 follow by Italy (97,689), China (82,133), Spain (80,110) and Germany (62,095). While Italy still records a highest death toll of 10,779 and Spain as a second country with 6,803 deaths, data collected by Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.
In Italy, the figure of covid-19 deaths fell for the second consecutive day on Sunday. The Civil Protection department reported a 756 deaths in last day, which was lower 133 deaths than the day before when compared to a highest record of 919 on Friday.
Even there is a good sign for Italian that the downward trend would continue but it is likely that the restriction measure that supposes to expire on April 3, tends to extend again.
While in the U.S., President Donald Trump has extended the national social distancing guidelines till April 30 after suggesting that the coronavirus death rate has a tendency hitting a peak in two weeks.
