THAI Drops 13% to ฿5.50 as “MoF” Denies the Rumor of “Charoen” Taking over the Airline, Indicating AOT and GSB Are the True Participants.
The share price of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) fell as much as ฿0.85/share or 13.38% to ฿5.50/share in the first 5 minutes after the opening bell on Monday, April 13, 2020, as the source in the Ministry of Finance denied the rumor of the Thai tycoon, Mr. Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, eyeing to hold stakes in THAI.
The source close to the matter in the Ministry of Finance revealed that having a private company to hold a stake in THAI would go against THAI’s policy of maintaining as a state enterprise and national airline.
Moreover, the source said that there are currently a high number of state enterprises eyeing for taking a hold of THAI such as Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), Government Savings Bank (GSB) and Vayupak Fund.
