Trump Plans to Reopen the Nation as Data Shows U.S. Has ‘Passed the Peak’ of Outbreak


The United States has reported more than 632,000 coronavirus cases and became the third epicenter after China and Italy, however on Wednesday news briefing conference the President Donald Trump said that according to data the U.S. has “passed the peak” of the virus outbreak and would announce “new guidelines” for reopening the economy on Thursday.

 

“The battle continues, but the data suggests that nationwide we have passed the peak on new cases.” Trump said at a White House in the matter of coronavirus issue.

 

“While we must remain vigilant, it is clear that our aggressive strategy is working,” he added

 

The data showed a positive direction as new cases are “declining” in New York and cases are “flat” in Denver and Detroit, while other cities including Baltimore and Philadelphia “are showing great signs of success.”

 

Trump also revealed that he will start to discuss for reopening the country on Thursday. 

Trump has been pushing the economic activities in the U.S. to resume and end the stay home measures as during the virus outbreak, about millions of Americans have lost their jobs and thousands of businesses have been forced to close their doors, which could lead to the crisis.
