Global Covid-19 Cases Top 8 million as Outbreak Continues Growing in Latin America


Coronavirus confirmed cases worldwide has already surpassed 8 million on Monday, while death toll hit 436,000, compiled by Johns Hopkins University, as the outbreak is growing fast  in Latin America and resurgence in Beijing, China.

Brazil becomes the number 2 hotspot in the world after more than 860,000 confirmed cases were reported with at least 44,000 deaths. 

The disease has been spreading in Latin America and Caribbean since March, the number of cases reported now stands at over 1,600,000, with about half of infection cases were in Brazil. While fatality rate within this region passed 80,000.

However, the United State still stand as the worst-hit country, more than 2,100,000 cases have been reported, with death toll reaching 116,000.

Meanwhile in China, the outbreak is likely to resurge after at least 79 cases were reported in Beijing since June 12, which mostly linked to Xinafadi wholesale market, a new cluster of the 2nd outbreak.
