Thai Industries Sentiment First Climbs in 4 Months after Gov’t Lifts Curfew and Lockdown
Thai industries sentiment index climbed to 78.4 in May, up from a last reading of 75.9 in April, first rise in 4 months since the Covid-19 outbreak began in Thailand.
Lifting night curfew and lockdown restrictions eased, as well as government stimulus package, which helps economic activities to normalize, enhanced the May TISI to post a raise.
However, many business entrepreneurs are still showing a worrisome about economic recession both in Thailand and globally as it hit directly on trade, investment and employment.
Thailand’s TISI expectation for the next 3-month was reported at 91.5, soaring from 88.8 a month earlier following the positivity of entrepreneurs on the upcoming phase of lockdown relaxation. Although the TISI starts posting an expansion, but still below 100, reflecting the entrepreneurs’ confidence has yet satisfy.
