China Plans to Vaccinate 50 Million People before the Lunar New Year in 2021

China Plans to Vaccinate 50 Million People before the Peak of 2021 Lunar New Year Travel Season.

China is planning to vaccinate 50 million people with a coronavirus vaccine made by Chinese firms before the start of Lunar New Year travel season, which would be early next year, reported South China Morning Post (SCMP).

The drug developed by Chinese firms Sinopharm and Sinovac was approved for an emergency use several months ago, and now the government is planning to distribute and vaccinate 100 million doses of the two-dose inactivated vaccines made by the aforementioned two Chinese firms.

According to the source cited by SCMP, Beijing expected to vaccinate 50 million doses by January and another 50 million doses to be completed by February 5.

The Chinese new year in 2021 will begin on February 11 and end on February 17. The one-week holiday for the Chinese could be a very dangerous event if the government fails to enforce proper restriction. The vaccination will help reduce the risk of contracting and spreading of the coronavirus.

China reported a total of 2,754 new cases with 15 new deaths in the past month, while recording 94,626 cases and 4,757 deaths since the outbreak started, according to the data compiled by John Hopkins University & Medicine.
