Trump Concedes Biden’s Win, Saying the Inauguration Will Take Place on Jan 20

The U.S. President Donald Trump admitted his loss for the first time on Thursday after Congress confirmed Joe Biden’s win earlier in the morning amid chaotic protest and violence at the Capitol.

 

For the first time since the election last November, President Donald Trump on Thursday acknowledged his loss and accepted the transition of power, which would take place on January 20, 2021.

Even though Trump did not directly say “I have lost” or “Biden has won”, his word implied the defeat for his attempt for the second term in the White House.

“A new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th,” said Trump. “My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power,” added the president.

 

Prior to the official confirmation by the U.S. Congress, Trump supporters stormed the Capitol yesterday in anger of Trump losing the election. The confrontation between law enforcement officers and protesters yesterday caused injuries from both sides. A woman who was shot on the Capitol grounds has died, according to police. Later, three more were reportedly dead from medical emergencies.
