Trump halts US funding for World Health Organization

The U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that U.S. will halt a funding to the World Health Organization as the international health agency made mistakes that “caused so much death” during the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump said on the press conference that WHO has fail in response to the global Covid-19 outbreak and the organization also promoted China’s “disinformation” about the virus that likely provoked a wider spread than otherwise would have happened.

“Today I’m instructing my administration to halt funding of the World Health Organization while a review is conducted to assess the World Health Organization’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus,” Trump said at a White House.

The United States is the biggest donor of WHO, which contributing more than $400 million in 2019, accounting approx. 15% of its overall budget.
