Trumps Announces "Opening up America Again" Plan to Resume the US Economy


After a long combating against the covid-19, the U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the guidelines for “Opening up America Again” outline three phases in which states can relax some of the strict social distancing measures.

 

According to latest report by Johns Hopkins University, there are 671,331 coronavirus cases in the United State with 28,998 deaths. 

 

The “Opening up America Again” came after more than 22 million Americans have filed for unemployment aid since Trump announced a national emergency, which has not seen this level of job loss since the Great Depression.

 

U.S.has been put in a lock down to control the virus spreading and limited some economic activities,which creating a risk in the economy, therefore Trump wants to loosen the country lockdown and restart its economy.

 

New federal guidelines position as a jumpstart of the U.S. economy, the 18-page plan includes a necessary for areas of the country to allow employees to start returning to work, but the decision to lift restrictions will be made by state governors.

 

In the first phase of re-opening, suggests groups of more than 10 people should be avoided if unable to practice appropriate distancing measures. Non-essential travel should be minimized, telework should be encouraged, and common areas in offices closed.

 

Schools remain closed, but large venues such as cinemas, restaurants, stadiums, and religion places can open with “strict physical distancing protocols.”

 

Hospitals may resume elective surgeries. Gyms can reopen with new protocols, but bars should remain closed.

 

In the second phase, applicable to states and regions with “no evidence of a rebound” in coronavirus cases, recommends groups of more than 50 be avoided where social distancing is not practical. Non-essential travel able to resume, as well as schools and youth camps can reconvene and bars with “diminished standing-room occupancy” may re-open.

 

While phase three, states which are still seeing a downward trend of symptoms and cases can allow “public interactions” and unrestricted staffing of workplaces.

 

“America wants to be open and Americans want to be open,…. A national shutdown is not a sustainable long-term solution.” Trump said in his daily briefing on Thursday.

 

He said that resuming the U.S. economy would be done “one careful step at a time” but he called on state governors to move “very, very quickly, depending on what they want to do”.
