Thailand Domestic Auto Sales Decline 41.74% as the Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic
The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) revealed on Thursday that the number of auto production in March 2020 decreased by 26.16% YoY to 146,812 vehicles, while a domestic car sales declined by 41.74% YoY to 60,105, mainly due to the impact of covid-19 outbreak.
The vehicle sales dropped 11.96%, comparing to a month earlier. For the first quarter of 2020, the sales plunged 24.09% YoY to record 200,064 cars.
Meanwhile, car exports in March as well shrank 23.71% from the previous year, especially in Asia-Oceania market and European market, as Thailand trade partners facing economy recession and the coronavirus crisis.
Total values of exports was reported at 49,112.93 million baht, slumping 17.85% YoY.
