The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to Offer a Relief Cash as a Plan to Boost Thailand Domestic Tourism
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is planning to boost domestic tourism by offering a cash subsidy and digital voucher from July to encourage travelling after this sector was hit severely by Covid-19 pandemic.
TAT will submit a stimulus plan to the Ministry of Finance by next week. Expects to gain revenue from foreign tourists of 1.23 trillion baht.
The plan will include stimulus checks to 1.2 million medical personnel and health volunteers, as appreciation and gratitude for front-line workers. While a digital money voucher will go to 4 million Thais who aged above 18.
Spending by foreign tourists accounted for 11.4% of the country’s gross domestic product last year, while domestic tourism made up 6%.
