Coronavirus Cases Surpass 7 Million as S.Korea Sees Rising New Cases after Lockdown Easing.

The coronavirus has infected over 7 million people as of June 8, 2020, with a total death toll of 402,000 globally.

While a lot of countries are slowly easing their lockdown measures, over 7 million people have been infected by this deadly disease, which already killed 402,000 people, shifting its hotspot from China to Europe, American and then Latin America.

The U.S. recorded 1,949,143 infections and 110,320 deaths, ranked the highest in the world in both categories, while Brazil took the second spot of the second-most infectious with 685,427 cases after turning into one of the virus hotspots.

Still, countries with flat cases such as China, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea and Germany etc., started to easing their lockdown measures to recover the economy, plunged by the coronavirus outbreak.

However, countries like South Korea have seen an uptick of new cases after the easing. South Korea managed to contain the new cases at a single digit per day or at least an early ten in April and early May. The number started to rise to 20 and 30 since mid May after the easing lockdown and the spreader was traced to nightclubs, malls and religious places where people gathered. The country averaged 44.4 new cases per day in the last seven days.

The World Health Organization (WHO) warned of the second wave of the outbreak as countries’ economies have yet to recover from the first outbreak.
