Nissan to Stop Night Shifts at Japan Production Sites as Falling Demand
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. on Friday said to cut a night shifts at 3 assembly factories in Japan after the firm is struggling to recover from a falling demand in car caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The night shifts will be stopped at one of lts production plants in Kyushu from June 29 to July 31, while other Kyushu site will cancel the work shift during the night between July 20 – July 31.
Moreover, the Japanese automaker will also stop output at Oppama factory, Kanagawa prefecture, on two days in July, and its Tochigi prefecture site will be closed for eight days next month, the statement said.
Previously, Nissan has decided to cut production after reported biggest loss in 20 years as Covid-19 has threatened global demand in automobile, along with plant closures dung the outbreak earlier this year.
Nissan Motor has posted a net loss of 671 billion yen ($6.2 billion) for the year ended in March.
