GPSC to Pursue LNG Shipper Licence, Aiming to Exceed 8,000MW Capacity within 10 Years


Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC) joined hand with its parents company PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) to apply for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipper licence to produce electricity and steam for an additional 7 SPP replacement schemes with the total installed capacity of 600 megawatts. 

 

Mr. Chavalit Thippawanich, President and Chief Executive Officer of GPSC, revealed that GPSC has now cooperated with gas business department of PTT in order to import and generate a liquefied natural gas by submitting a request for LNG shipper license, which is in the line with PTT Group’s business strategy.

 

PTT plans to increase an investment in renewable energy to 8,000 megawatts within 10 years (2020 – 2029), and expects an installed capacity reaching to 3,000 megawatts within the period of first five years.

 

According to GPSC’s plan for 10 year investment, the company is also working on a plan to improve a capacity of electricity generation to 1,500 megawatts from a current total capacity of 5,026 megawatts. Moreover, GPSC is vigorously seeking out merger and acquisition (M&A) opportunities abroad in renewable energy business, and expects to acquire at least 1 projects in the second half of 2020.
