Michigan Certifies Biden’s Win, Dow Futures Gains 200pts as Trump Accepts the Transition
Michigan officially certified Joe Biden’s win in the state’s presidential election on Monday (Nov 23), pressuring Donald Trump to accept another defeat and set to begin the transition process.
The Michigan State Board of Canvassers, including 2 Democrats and 2 Republicans, which 1 member has abstained, voted unanimously (3-0) on Monday to certify Biden’s victory for the state’s results, blocking the soon-to-be-former President Trump to overturn the election results through legal challenges that have been dismissed in key states.
The vote came days after Trump held the meeting at the White House with Republican state lawmakers from Michigan in what CNBC stated that was believed to be an effort to get the state legislature to nullify the popular vote and appoint a slate of Trump electors to the Electoral College.
Otherwise after the meeting, the legislators said they had seen no evidence of fraud that would invalidate the popular vote. They also said that they would follow state law, which mandates that the state’s Electoral College voters go to the winner of popular ballots, said CNBC reports.
Also on Monday, General Services Administration chief Emily Murphy addressed Biden that the Trump administration accepted to begin the formal U.S. transition process, soon after Dow futures rose 200 points in response to the transition announcement.
