DDD Marks the Beginning of a Change

In recent years, the financial performance of Do Day Dream Public Company Limited (DDD)’s has declined continuously…in 2017, DDD booked a total income of 1,684 million baht and net profit was 351 million baht. In 2018, a total income dropped to 1,304 million baht as well as net profit, decreasing to 181 million baht and collapsed dramatically in 2019 as operating result turned to a loss of 53 million baht, while revenue was 796 million baht.

For the nine months period, DDD recorded a total revenue of 799 million with a loss of 34 million baht.

Literally, DDD acknowledged the signal of performance declined, driving the Company into attempting to invest in different types of business to enhance business growth. In October, DDD planned to invest 520 million baht in acquiring 9% stake in Nova Organic Company Limited (Nova), a producer and distributor of health supplements under the trademarks “Donutt” and “Livnest”.

Nova reported a net profit of 17 million baht in 2018 from a total revenue of 354 million baht and in 2019, the earnings jumped to 329 million baht from a total revenue of 483 million baht, marking an outstanding performance, which could push DDD from a business recession.

Furthermore, Nova’s business is in line with DDD’s philosophy “Beauty is Healthy”, a truly beautiful complexion comes from the best version of healthy skin.

However, the deal came to naught, DDD stated only it and Nova are unable to clearly conclude the direction and scope of the joint cooperation as the business partnership, causing DDD to miss opportunities in its business.

How will DDD step into a healthy supplement business when it now does not have Nova backup..? Moreover, DDD is tightly linked to the trademark SNAIL, which limits business expansion and marketing.  The second question is how will DDD get rid of the Snail White brand.

The resignation of “Mr. Sarawut Pornpatanarak” from Chief Executive Officer is as interesting as “Mr. Sarawut is not only CEO, but also the major shareholder of DDD (holds 56.50%). What happened to this stock..?

Will the shareholding structure change once the CEO and major shareholder resigns..? Thus, it might be the beginning of the change of DDD..?

Let’s keep eyes on DDD’s new movement.
