The Selection Committee Votes to Revoke “MRT Orange Line” Bid
The Selection Committee in Accordance with Section 36 on February 3, 2020, voted unanimously to revoke the last-year Orange Line bid and later suggested the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) to call for a bid again.
The MRTA Orange Line Project bidding opened call for the tender in November, 2020 and there were only 2 two consortias submitted bids; Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) and BSR Consortium (BSR), comprising of BTS Group Holdings Public Company Limited (BTS), Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (BTSC), and Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited (STEC).
However MRTA has postponed considering bids as the Selection Committee agreed to amend the bidding criteria, leading BSR to file a petition citing that the revised bidding terms could lead to unfair competition. Later, the Central Administrative Court has ordered MRTA to stick with the old Orange Line Project bidding criteria.
