EGCO Is at Risk of Losing 1Q21 Revenue after Reporting a Broken Undersea Cable in Samui
EGCO could be at risk of losing some of its revenue after a report of a broken undersea cable used to transmit electricity from EGCO’s Khanom Power Plant to Koh Samui and Koh Pha-Ngan.
Provincial Electricity Authority of Koh Samui addressed that the power failure in Koh Samui in the early morning of March 8, 2021, was due to an anchoring of HTMS Angthong near the 115Kv submarine power cable used to transmit electricity from Khanom Power Plant, which is operated by Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO), to Koh Samui and Koh Pha-Ngan.
Initially, the plant will be unable to generate electricity for 2 weeks due to maintenance. Following the incident, EGCO could be at risk of losing some of its revenue after a report of a broken undersea cable used to transmit electricity from EGCO’s Khanom Power Plant to Koh Samui and Koh Pha-Ngan.
