Thai Exports Drops 2.59% in Feb as the Pandemic Still Weigh on Global Economy
Thai exports in February 2021 had a value of 20,219.01 million U.S. Dollar, a 2.59% drop YoY, compared with market consensus of a 1.5-2.4% gain after a 0.35% growth in January, as the Covid-19 pandemic still weighs heavily on the global economy, said the Trade Policy and Strategy Office, Ministry of Commerce on Thursday, March 25.
While the total imports value was 20,211.76 million U.S. Dollar, an expand of 21.99% YoY, bringing to a 7.25 million U.S. Dollar surplus in Feb.
For a full-year outlook, the TPSO expects exports to grow over 4%. The recovery may begin from 2Q21 onwards as the demand for goods such as rubber gloves, electronic components, cassava , etc. is projected to increase.
