BA Reports a Further Loss of ฿745Mn in 1Q, as Operation Has Not yet Returned to Normal

Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited (BA) has announced its 1Q21 consolidated financial statement through the Stock Exchange of Thailand as follows;
For the first quarter of the year 2021, BA reported a net loss at 745.8 million baht, compared to a net loss at 338 million baht in the same period last year.
Total revenue amount 1,357.2 million baht, decreased by 78.8%. The downward of total revenue resulted from airline business decreasing by 93.3%, airport business decreasing by 91.6% and airport-related businesses decreasing by 64.2%.
BA’s performance in the first quarter of year 2021 has been continuously faced from an impact of COVID-19 pandemic. International flights were suspended according to government orders as well as the announcement from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT). The flight frequency of domestic routes including Bangkok to Samui, Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Bangkok to Sukhothai and Bangkok to Lampang, Bangkok to Phuket were adjusted to match with travel demand as a result of the second wave of COVID-19 starting from the end of 2020. Consequently, the number of flights dropped by 85.6%, while the number of passengers carried reported at 151.9 thousand passengers, decreasing by 88.5% from the same period of last year. The overall load factor at 58.8%.
