Maybank Names Arapat Sangkharat as Acting CEO Following Montree Sornpaisarn’s Retirement
Maybank Kim Eng announced that Mr. Montree Sornpaisarn will retire as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective from 1 July 2021.
Maybank Kim Eng Securities (Thailand) Public Company Limited (MBKET) wishes to announce that Mr. Montree Sornpaisarn will retire as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective from 1 July 2021.
A new CEO will be appointed in due course to ensure the continued execution of MKE Thailand’s 5-year plan. In the interim, Mr. Arapat Sangkharat, Deputy CEO, MKE Thailand has been appointed as Officer-in-Charge.

Mr. Montree joined MKE Thailand (then known as Kim Eng Securities (Thailand) Plc.) in 2001 as Chief Executive Officer responsible for the overall brokerage and investment banking business, the derivatives department and new business development. During his tenure, MKE Thailand grew to become one of ASEAN’s most successful securities firms, having led market share for 16 years from 2002 till 2017 and regularly winning Best Broker in Thailand. He oversaw the launch of Investment Management in February this year, marking the evolution of the firm’s brokerage business.

It has been a truly memorable journey and the highlight of my career to see MKE Thailand grow and transform over many market cycles. While it is now time for me to move on to other pursuits, I am confident that I leave MKE Thailand in very capable hands and in a position of strength as the Maybank Kim Eng Group celebrates its 10th anniversary this year,” Mr. Montree said.
Mr. Arapat joined MKE Thailand in August 2020 as Deputy CEO and as Regional Head, Transformation for Maybank Kim Eng Group. He has over 20 years’ experience in banking and management consulting in Asia and the US, having held roles in Siam Commercial Bank, Krungthai Bank, Deloitte and PwC.
