Thailand Grants Additional LNG Shipper License to PTT and SCC
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) granted LNG shipper licenses to PTT and SCC, marking Thailand's sixth and seventh LNG import license, following those award to EGAT, GULF, Hin Kong Power Holdings, BGRIM, and EGCO.
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) granted LNG shipper licenses to PTT Global LNG Company Limited (PTTGL) and The Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCC). This is Thailand’s sixth and seventh LNG import license, following those granted to EGAT, GULF, Hin Kong Power Holdings, BGRIM, and EGCO.
Currently, seven shippers are qualified for a 488,000-tonne annual LNG import quota in 2021.
The permit will allow PTTGL to sell the LNG to power plants that do not have long-term gas purchase agreements with PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) or to those plants that have non-firm gas purchase agreements and are required to switch LNG suppliers. Meanwhile, SCC will supply LNG to its SCG-owned companies.
