NBTC Mercilessly Denies DTAC’s Remedial Measurement Request! Sending Shares to Plunge

NBTC will not allow remedial measurement for DTAC, claiming that that number of subscribers do not meet NBTC's condition.

Regarding the request from Total Access Communication Public Company Limited (DTAC) for its’ 850 MHz subscribers’ remedial measurement, The National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) has come to a resolution today that there will be no remedial measurement for DTAC’s subscribers.

NBTC states that the remaining 60,000 subscribers using 850 MHz (900 MHz) that DTAC claims do not meet NBTC’s condition. Moreover, NBTC emphasizes that DTAC had been notified to transfer its subscribers to another spectrum long ago.

NBTC sees that only a limited number of subscribers can be transferred in each day and a lot of paperworks must be done, thus, NBTC will inform DTAC to notify its subscribers to only finish the paperworks before the concession ends (September 15, 2018), and NBTC will help proceeding the transfer process.

As for the 900 MHz auction, the condition states that the auction winner must set a protection devices to prevent spectrum crashing with the BTS. This may seem to be unfair to the winner, but NBTC will personally administer the process and will allow the winner to deduct the system expense from setting up the devices. Thus, NBTC does not see any reasons for DTAC to not participate in the auction.

The panic has affected DTAC’s shares in stock market significantly. Right after the opening of the afternoon session, DTAC plunges to ฿41.00/share, sinks ฿2.75 or 6.29%. The highest of the day is ฿44.75/share and the lowest is ฿39.00/share with 759 million baht in value.
