Asian Stocks Trade in Mixed Session after Dow Jones Close at Record High
Stocks in Asia traded in a mixed session after Dow Jones reached a record high as inflation in July rose lower than expected.
Stocks in Asia traded in a mixed session, following a 220.30 points gains in the Dow Jones Industrial Average to close at a record high as inflation jumped lower than what the market had expected.
As of 8:30 local time in Thailand, Nikkei rose 0.29%, SSEC slipped 0.23%, HSI fell 0.32%, ASX 200 gained 0.04% and Kospi increased 0.16%.
Last night, Dow Jones settled at 35,484.97 points at a new high. S&P 500 edged 0.2% higher to 4,447.70 points and Nasdaq closed 0.1% lower at 14,765.14 points.
The U.S. Labor Department reported a 5.4% rise in consumer-price index from the same period of last year in July. Meanwhile, core inflation in July rose only 0.3%.
