Japan Extends State of Emergency to September amid Rising Covid-19 Cases

Japan expects to extend the state of emergency to mid September to combat rising the Delta variant Covid-19 cases.

Japan will extend its state of emergency to the middle of September as the Covid-19 outbreak continues to hinder its economic growth with new daily cases still in an uptrend.

The Japanese government expects to add several other regions to its soft lockdown extension that is expected to expire in August 31, 2021, to curb the rising Covid-19 cases, caused by the Delta variant, sending 7-day average Covid-19 cases to 16,666 and a 7-day average death of 18.

Japan is facing a hard time controlling the spread of Covid-19 as the states of emergency can only request cooperation from its people instead of enforcing restrictions on them.

Japan reportedly gave full vaccination to 36% of its people.
