BANPU Starts COD of Kessennuma Project, with Goal of Reaching 6,100MW Capacity by 2025
The Project Kessennuma Solar Power Plant, with a capacity of 20 MW, is located in Japan. The electricity generated by this project can serve the general usage of about 6,000 households.
Banpu Public Company Limited (BANPU) announced that the Project Kessennuma Solar Power Plant in Japan that BRE Singapore Pte. Ltd. (BRES.), a subsidiary company under Banpu NEXT Co., Ltd. (Banpu NEXT) (BANPU and Banpu Power Public Company Limited equally hold 50% in Banpu NEXT) has invested 100% under TK* structure successfully achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) on 26th November 2021.
The project is located in Miyagi prefecture with capacity of 20 MW, has entered into Power Purchase Agreement with Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. for a period of 19 years with Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) of JPY 32 per Kilowatt-Hour. The electricity generation can serve the general use of approximately 6,000 households.
Inclusive of this project, BANPU has a renewable business portfolio located in Thailand, Japan, China, Australia, Vietnam, and others across Asia Pacific Region. The total generation capacity has reached 1,074 MW on Equity-base capacity, under which had been COD for a total of 826 MW.
BANPU will continue seeking investment opportunities to achieve the growth target under the Energy generation business of 6,100 MW in 2025 by focusing on markets with attractive growth and supportive government policy.
