Japan to Bring Back Travel Ban on Tuesday for Cautious Measure against Omicron
Japan will bring back its travel ban on Tuesday amid concerns over the new Covid-19 omicron variant.
Japan announced Monday that it will suspend entry of all foreign arrivals from around the world amid concerns over the new Covid-19 omicron variant, the new Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said as the ban will take effect on Tuesday, November 29, 2021.
Japan had recently eased border control on November 8 for short-term business visitors, foreign students and workers
Meanwhile, the Japanese government had already suspended the exemption for visitors who recently had been to Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Japanese citizens who travel to these countries are required for quarantine before being allowed to enter the country.
The government revealed that there is a person from Namibia who tested positive for Covid-19 at Narita Airport and the test result is now being verified to see if it is the new variant or not.
