GUNKUL Asserts All Respects are in Accordance with the Regulation Process

GUNKUL clarifies that the Saranlom Wind Farm has operated the business in accordance with the regulation process in all respects.


According to the report of the locals submitting a complaint to the Administrative Court, claiming an illegal certificate that Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) had issued to Greenovation Power Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited (GUNKUL), to construct a 60MW wind farm.

The locals claim that the Saranlom Wind Farm power plant, located in Nakorn Ratchasima Province, has caused noise pollution to the surrounding locals 24/7, while the range between the plant and habitant should be 630m. apart, but it appears to be only 200m. in reality.

 

To clarify the matter for investors whether GUNKUL’s plant is illegally established or not, Kaohoon Online has interviewed Ms. Sopacha Dhumrongpiyawut, GUNKUL’s President of Directors, on September 18, 2018.

Ms. Sopacha asserts that the license GUNKUL has applied to operate electricity generation business is in accordance with the regulation process in all respects. Nevertheless, Wind power generation projects are not required to prepare environmental impact assessment report (EIA).

Moreover, the subsidiary undertook the Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) in order to hear the opinions from stakeholders, national and communities, which is one of documents to apply for the license.

 

For an impact of sound, GUNKUL has conducted the assessment of noise level in such area by the experts, which is also accepted by the locals. The measured value is in accordance with the standard. GUNKUL also has a sound measurement test every 6 months to ensure that the noise level is at its standard.

As for the location distance of the wind power plant project, GUNKUL has implemented with the Notification of the Energy Regulatory Commission, with a safety measures and public protection plans which are in line with the conditions that set by the Energy Regulatory Commission.

 

Lastly, Ms. Sopacha adds that Saranlom Wind Farm will be able to produce more energy than the first half of 2018. Currently, the production in 3Q18 has already exceeded the number that 1H18 had produced.
