BEM Rejoices an Extension of 37-Year Sirat Expressway Concession from EXAT!

To end the dispute with BEM, EXAT decides to extend BEM’s concession of Sirat Expressway Sector A, B and C for 37 years.

Express Authority of Thailand (EXAT) has come to an agreement with Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) to extend BEM’s concession of Sirat Expressway Sector A, B and C for 37 years to end the dispute of Pakkret-Bang Pa-in expressway that the minister had appointed a private company to operate, while the terms and conditions state that the Pakkret-Bang Pa-in expressway was a non-competitive operation, thus requests EXAT to compensate the loss in revenue from the reduction of users as NECL had evaluated.

In the agreement, EXAT allows the operator (BEM) to consider in increasing express fee by ฿10 every 10 years and divide 60% of income from the express fee to EXAT.

Moreover, BEM also aims to invest ฿40 billion to increase the quality of services and solving traffic problems by constructing 17 k.m. long two-level expressway along Pracha Chuen – Asok line.

This concession will have a positive sentiment for BEM business as well as shareholder, while CH. Karnchang Public Company Limited (CK) will also get the benefit as a major shareholder of BEM.
