“Sumeth” Personally Takes Care of Stranded Passengers at Suvarnabhumi Airport
The reporter reports that Mr. Sumeth Damrongchaitham, President of THAI, personally took care of stranded passengers at Suvarnabhumi Airport since the closing of Pakistan airspace.
The share price of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), the operator of Thai Airways, had been in a slump since the order from both Pakistan and India for airstrikes on each other on February 26, 2019.
Pakistan closed its airports and airspace on February 27th, caused a lot of chaos to commercial airlines and left thousands of passengers stranded at Suvarnabhumi Airport due to flight to Europe being cancelled.
In the morning of February 28th, Thai Airways announced that “most” of the flights would be able to operate as normal by using a new route over China airspace instead.
THAI’s executives and directors including Mr. Sumeth Damrongchaitham, President of THAI, and Minister of Transport Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, had been both monitoring the situation and personally taking care of stranded passengers on site since the day of flight cancellations. THAI also made three special flights to France, Lahore and Moscow, scheduled to depart on March 1, 2019. The first priority of THAI is to send around 2,000 stranded passengers as of February 28, 2019 to their destination as soon as possible.
Sadly, the price of THAI as of March 1, 2019, plunges even further despite the hard work of their directors. At 10:35, THAI falls ฿0.50/share or 3.82% to ฿12.60/share with ฿46 million in value. On the other hand, AOT rebounded from a loss of 1.82% yesterday to gain ฿0.25/share or 0.37% to ฿67.75/share with ฿447 million in value.
