British Lawmakers Vote Against Brexit Deal, yet Not Willing to Leave without a Deal
Britain is set to request for Brexit extension after lawmakers vote 321 to 278 on not to leave E.U. without a deal.
Following the uttered defeat on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 vote against British Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal, the parliament held another vote on Wednesday to see whether Britain would want to leave the E.U. without a deal or not.
The vote on Wednesday turned out that Britain would not want to leave E.U. without a deal by voting 321 to 278 while kept on defying May’s deal at the same time. The result was widely expected as no deal could hurt the UK economic growth and lead to trade disruption, though some pro-Brexit would want to leave without a deal.
Former Foreign Secretary and a leading Brexiteer, Boris Johnson, stated in favor of hard Brexit, saying that it will be difficult in a short term, but in the end, it is the only safe route out of the abyss and the only safe path to self-respect.
Now, Britain will vote again today whether the lawmakers prefer to extend the Brexit deadline which could delay the withdrawal until at least the end of June. A new deal from the government is possible, but highly unlikely to face the same fate which leaves to a new election or a second referendum.
