MSCI Gives a Green Light on the New Implementation, Adding CENTEL, RATCH, INTUCH, DTAC
MSCI has approved the new implementation of NVDR in weighting calculation while added CENTEL, RATCH, INTUCH, and DTAC into MSCI Thailand Index.
On March, 29, 2019, MSCI has announced that it had rebalanced the MSCI Emerging Market Index which added CENTEL, RATCH, INTUCH and DTAC into the MSCI Thailand Index. In this rebalancing, MSCI had implemented NVDR in weighting calculation, which would result in higher Thai equity. The calculation should be announced in a few days, but a majority of analysts expected a raise in equity from 2.5% to 3% and brought about additional inflows of around THB 30-60 billion.
Nomura Securities had predicted that this would brought additional inflows around THB 30 billion while UBS Securities expected higher inflows at THB 60 billion. Both UBS and Morgan Stanley stated in the analysis that the new weighting would benefit SCC and BDMS the most while SCB would be the loser.
