Still Hopeful on the Trade Talks?

On the last day of trade talks in Washington, the Chinese VP Liu He and chief negotiator in the talks stated that “negotiations have not broken down.” Still, the U.S. maintain to levy 25% of Chinese imports worth $200 billion.
“I think small setbacks are normal and inevitable during the negotiations of both countries. Looking forward, we are still cautiously optimistic,” Liu said.
“Right now, both sides have reached mutual understanding in many things, but frankly speaking, there are also differences. We think these differences are significant issues of principle. We absolutely cannot make concessions on such issues of principle.”
Trump said earlier that there was “nothing wrong with taking in $100 billion a year”.
