On Friday, June 7, 2019, the U.S. President Donald Trump had announced an indifinite suspension on the Mexico import tariffs after the immigration deal had been reached.
“I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico,” Trump tweeted. “The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended.”
“Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States,” Trump asserted.
The agreement had put an end to the supposedly one-sided trade war after Trump announced the tariff plan last week to levy tariffs by 5% each month, starting June 10, up to 25% on October.
