Foreign Travelers Fall 1.03% in May, Dragging Tourism Receipts Down by Almost 1%!!


According to the record of Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports in May 2019, the number of international arrivals has decreased by 1.03% or 28,258 of inbound tourists compared to the same period of last year while tourism receipts slid 0.95%.

Chinese tourists, which are the majority of Thailand’s visitors, fell 8.55%, causing tourism receipts from this group decrease 6.26%, compared to the same period of 2018.

Moreover, the numbers of German, Korean, Singaporean, and French tourists declined 19.45%, 8.78%, 8.19%, and 8.15%, respectively. The expenditure of these tourists also dropped 18.5%, 7.41%, 6.72%, and 6.81%, respectively.
