MoT Supports THAI’s Plan to Buy 38 New Aircraft, Looking to Propose to the Cabinet Soon.
Mr. Saksayam Chidchob, Transport Minister, has stated that the meeting of the Ministry of Transport has agreed that the THB 156 billion plan to buy or lease 38 new aircraft of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) was the most ready plan to propose to the cabinet as the plan had been approved by the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC).
THAI has reiterated that the company will procure and settle the loan by itself without relying on the government’s budget while asserting that the purchasing plan was inline with international standards.
Currently, the plan is being reviewed by Thaworn Senneam, Deputy Transport Minister, on some aspects before proposing to the cabinet for approval.
