SET Surges Near 20pts. after HSI Closes +4% from the Formally Withdrawal of the Bill
SET surges near 20 points after HSI closes almost +4% from the announcement of formally withdrawal extradition bill from HK Leader Carrie Lam.
Hang Seng Index rose almost 4% in response to the announcement of formally withdrawn the extradition bill from Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
The protest against extradition bill which started on March 31, 2019, was supposed to end after Lam announced that the bill was dead, however, the protestors still continued to march, demanding democracy and the resignation of Lam.
The prolonged protest had caused Hong Kong dearly including the violence between protestors and police officers to the paralyze of transportation in Hong Kong as well as flight cancellations at Hong Kong airport. HSI lost 13.8% from the closing on March 29 to the closing price on September 3.
On September 4, 2019, the day that Carrie Lam announced that she would formally withdrawn the extradition bill, HSI surged 3.81% to close at 26,500.00 points.
As of 15:30 local time in Thailand, SET Index also received the positive sentiment from the regional market and rose to 1,661.30 points, increased 19.05 points or 1.16%.
