Ministry of Energy Reduces Levies for Oil Fund to Maintain Retail Fuel Prices.


On September 17, 2019, Energy Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong has stated that the ministry will reduce levies collected for its Oil Fund so that retail fuel prices remain unchanged as crude climbs, the Energy Ministry says in a statement. The levies will be reduced by 1.0 baht for benzene and 0.6 baht for diesel, starting September 18, 2019.

After the attack on Aramco’s oil plants in Saudi Arabia last Saturday, erasing the country’s output by half, it has been reported that Thailand is also looking at countries such as United Arab Emirates and Oman as potential alternatives to Saudi Arabia for oil supplies.
