Ministry of Commerce Reveals Thai August Exports Plunge 4%, Imports Fall 14.6% with $2bn Trade Surplus.
On September 20, 2019, the Ministry of Commerce has announced that Thai exports in August fell 4.0% YoY from the estimation of -2.0% with $21,915 million of trade balance while imports fell 14.6% YoY from the estimation of -5.1% with $19,862 million of trade balance. For eight months period, exports declined by 2.19% and imports fell by 3.61%. The trade surplus was $2.05 billion.
The ministry said that exports dropped in line with the economic slowdown in many countries amid concerns about the U.S.-China trade war.
