Johnson’s Brexit Deal Reaches an Agreement with the EU, Paving the Way to an Exit

Johnson’s Brexit Deal Reaches an Agreement with the EU, Paving the Way to Exit the Bloc on Halloween.

On Thursday, 17 October 2019, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has announced that the negotiators from the U.K. has reached the Brexit agreement with EU officials in Brussels.

“Where there is a will, there is a deal – we have one! It’s a fair and balanced agreement for the EU and the UK and it is testament to our commitment to find solutions. I recommend that EUCO endorses this deal,” tweeted Juncker.

The UK had voted in June 2016 to exit the bloc and bestowed the honor to Theresa May to take the office and deliver the deal, made with the EU, to the parliament which May failed to persuade MPs to agree with her.

Boris Johnson took the office as U.K. Prime Minister after May and was the one who will be delivering the deal to the parliament this time, expecting to get an approval before the deadline on 31 October 2019.

“We’ve got a great new deal that takes back control — now Parliament should get Brexit done on Saturday so we can move on to other priorities like the cost of living, the NHS, violent crime and our environment,” tweeted Johnson.

According to the schedule, the parliament was set for Brexit showdown on 19 October 2019.
