Asia Stocks Edge Higher after Wall Street Hits a New Record High Overnight.
Asia stocks mostly traded higher on December 27, 2019, as of 9:15 local time in Bangkok after Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdaq reached new highs overnight.
SSEC rose 0.37%, HSI gained 1.03%, ASX 200 edged up 0.19%, Kospi increased 0.20% while Nikkei dipped 0.04%.
The Dow Jones gained 105.94 points to close at 28,621.39 while S&P 500 rose 16.53 points, or 0.51% to 3,239.91. Meanwhile, Nasdaq closed the day 0.78% higher at 9,022.39, topping the 9,000 mark for the first time ever. All three major indices had hit new all-time highs overnight.
On Friday, December 27, 2019, Beijing reports that profits at China’s industrial firms in November grew 5.4% from a year earlier to 593.9 billion yuan ($84.93 billion) and also rebounded from a drop of 9.9% in October.
