SET Jumped 33pts in Anticipation of Easing the Partial Lockdown Starting Early May.


SET Index jumped nearly 33.08 points or 2.67% to 1,272.32 points as of 16:11 local time in Thailand on Monday, April 20, 2020, higher than the regional markets in hopes of easing the partial lockdown in early May.

 

Nikkei closed 1.15% lower, SSEC gained 0.50%, HSI dropped 0.21%, ASX 200 fell 2.45% and Kospi shed 0.84%.

 

The state of emergency will expire at the end of April, but can be extended, depending on the situation. However, Thailand has seen a stable coronavirus cases around 20-40 for mostly over a week now, which leads to the anticipation of easing a partial lockdown in the nation by early May.

The Thai Cabinet will convene a meeting and the announcement should be stated within this week.
