China Greenlights the New National Security Laws for Hong Kong!

China’s National People’s Congress (NPC) has approved the proposal to implement a new national security law on Hong Kong. The process will take a few months before being able to enact.

Based on the draft last week, the new legislation aimed at secession, subversion of state power, terrorism activities and foreign interference.

Last Friday, pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong came out to protest against the new laws, forcing the police to fire pepper pellets at the crowd along with several arrests. Yesterday, China said that it will take countermeasures on any foreign interference regarding the new national security laws Beijing aims to implement in Hong Kong.
