Trump to Postpone G7 Meeting, Expecting to Invite Russia, Australia, S.Korea and India.
The U.S. President Donald Trump said he would postpone a Group of Seven (G7) summit, which is expected to be held next month until at least September after leaders of the member were uncertain on joining the meeting amid the pandemic outbreak.
“I’m postponing it because I don’t feel that as a G7 it properly represents what’s going on in the world,” Trump told reporters.
The G7 comprises the US, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Japan. In the upcoming meeting, Trump said that he would like to expand the list of invitees to include Russia, Australia, South Korea and India.
The announcement came after Germany, Canada and other countries were hesitant in joining the meeting in Washington amid the coronavirus outbreak worldwide.
