U.S. Coronavirus Cases Surpass 2 Million as Protest over Police Brutality Continues!
Total U.S. coronavirus cases topped 2 million on Wednesday, tallied by Reuters, amid wide protest across the country, raising the risk of contraction in the country where the most infection and death occurred.
According to the data from Reuters, the new cases in the U.S. started to increase slowly after five weeks of declines. Part of the increase was due to more testing, which hit a record high on June 5 of 545,690 tests in a day.
The U.S. passed its coronavirus peak in April, thus, started to reopen its economy. However, the uprising of protesters over the death of George Floyd in the U.S. concerned health officials as demonstrators did not stick to the social distancing.
As of Wednesday, June 10, 2020, the U.S. had 2,007,457 coronavirus cases and 112,834 deaths, which is the highest-ranking worldwide in both categories.
