Beijing Cancels Flights as Coronavirus Cases Spike, Raising Emergency Response to Lv.2
Both inbound and outbound flights in Beijing were cancelled on Wednesday as health officials moved to contain the spreading of the coronavirus outbreak in the city after new daily cases started to increase.
The health officials reported 31 new coronavirus cases for June 16, bringing the total cases since last Thursday to 137 cases, while officials were rushing for a mass test on civilians near the market, believed to be the center of this spreading.
Beijing also raised its coronavirus emergency response from level 3 to level 2 (level 1 marks the highest level) out of its four levels, 10 days after it lowered the level from 2 to 3.
