Qantas Axes International Flights until October as the Border Remains Close!

Qantas, Australia’s biggest airline, has decided to cancel all international flights until late October, except for some flights to and from New Zealand.

The announcement came after the federal Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham said Australia’s border will remain closed for overseas travel and would likely reopen next year.

“With Australia’s borders set to remain closed for some time, we have cancelled most international flights until late October,” said Qantas in a statement.

“We still have some flights scheduled across the Tasman in the coming months, with the expected travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand,” added Qantas. “Should travel between Australia and other countries open up and demand returns, we can add more flights back into our schedule.”

However, Qantas signalled that the operations could resume if travel between Australia and other countries opened up. Currently, the airline would focus on domestic travel.
